How to get started?
It's easy and I'll lay it out in a step by step process.
2. Read rules (boring bit I know). 3. Create your character. See below for some advice. 4. If you're confused about what's happening, visit the Oracle for an overview of things. 5. Visit the Library so that you can see some examples of other creatures. 6. Make an introductory post 7. Wait for the powers that be to give you a rank. (They are usually pretty quick about it.) 8. Keep posting and have fun. 9. If you have problems, talk to either S-gard or Xeravil if you can't resolve them. 10. Do NOT kill anyone without their express permission. You won't like the consequences. Some extra advice. Character creation:
2. Don't make them god or invincible. You don't need to reveal all your weaknesses but you do need them. 3. Decide on what their general goal is. This will make it a lot easier to decide how to act in situations. Are they trying for power? What do they want to achieve? Deciding on a short, medium and long term goal will help keep you focused when playing. 4. Decide in general how they will interact with other characters. Will they be helpful, aggressive, quiet, etc. There will always be exceptions of course, but this will help. 5. Have fun! Be realistic - For your first post, don't go kill something at level 50. Alternatively post in First Blood or Role of Glory. This allows you to define your character without affecting the story. Now to be contradictory: Don't be afraid to affect the story. Your character has to interact with others so you are going to affect them. If in doubt about where to appear in the world, just appear in the vicinity of the Palace. It's a good default location. Visiting the Oracle Don't bother the Oracle every day. That just shows you aren't trying to keep up by yourself. The Oracle will do their best to tell you what you need to know but may miss out some of the seemingly unimportant details. If you can, you should try to read the posts. NPC's Try not to create them unnecessarily. Most can be worked into your post, and other posts. If you create one though, remember to ask S-gard or Xeravil to move them into the right user group. Also ensure that you have put their user name and pass word in their signature so that everyone knows that it is an NPC and can also use it. Remember to put them in the Library so that other's can see and use them. Just remember though that anyone can use them ' they might not remain loyal only to you. If you use an NPC that already exists, make sure you have read their previous posts and know what they will do in that situation. Having them do something that's just not possible for them isn't enjoyable. Levels and Ranking The ranks are:
Whelp 2 Minion 10 Fighter 30 Warrior 50 General 70 Banshee 100 Demon 150 Baal-Rog 300
Generals 50 Demons 100 Elites 300 Minions are regular users and can access the bottom level of forums. Generals are localised moderators and can access the bottom 2 levels. Demons are global moderators and can access the bottom 3 forums. Elites are administrators and can access the entire forums as well as change almost anything. Levels above Minion can create scenarios for people. So have fun everyone and enjoy. Most things are possible in this world and it's up to you to find out exactly what there is to see. Bits of this were pulled from various sources, so I can't take credit for it all. I'm leaving this here until Oracle is created properly, then I will move it. Is there anything you want added?? |

Err... you did write a lot of thism I just adapted it.
As for the rest of it, I just made it up as I typed. With Oracle, I think we should leave them as a normal NPC so that anyone can answer any new questions but that a thread/forum should be created for the Oracle. Haven't decided if a thread or forum would be best but I'm thinking a thread/sub forum within Minion section would do it. I think I might make the Oracle friends with Basil so that if anyone goes and keeps pestering the Oracle they can threaten them with Basil. Might need to think about creating something like a training facility. The Lair has some good ideas and good ideas should be stolen... err borrowed at all opportunities but I was thinking this would be more like the Gold Saucer fighting room - Dio's challenge or whatever that was called (this is bad, I should know what it's called since I played it often enough) in FFVII rather than what the Lair does since I don't think any of us want to claim to be good RPers at the moment and thus a mentor system seems unnecessary. This would be just a place where people can request a particular monster to fight against. This would raise their level as well, but only by half what it usually would, and only if they fought something that was worth it, or something since we don't want people habitually levelling via this means. Maybe Drunken-Chan could know about this place? Or others of General level could administer it, or even be the opponent. Proper rules would need to be worked out but this could be discussed with some of the soon to be generals to see what they think. This will also possibly get them used to thinking about world creation. We could also potentially run a tournament there later if things get boring, whereby character levels are mystically reset for the duration of the tournament and they are then drawn out to fight each other. Something like a Budokai but with limits. Four posts each to determine fight or it comes down to judges decision or something. Grand prize automatic 10 levels gained or something when play resumes. This budokai idea could also be extended to elites or demons if they can raise an army but for general level, I think it would be best to limit them to their own fighting abilities. *Shrug* random idea that bears some thinking about. |

I think its a good idea for if the place was very busy.
if we are expecting a lot of new members then that sort of ting would be suitable. but with a couple of members, it is not really necessary. not tht we couldn't use that sort of thing in the future, i think it would work very well in the scenario where we have hundreds of members! |
