i will explain the temples that my race frequent...

they are dark and comforting, warm and safe for within them you know that the darkness is all encompassing. we do not worship the dark but we live within in and our temples reflect that. they are not places for those of the light for they are the high commands of darkness. they are not evil though and we are not mindless... anyone can kill... our kills have purpose and it is such a misnomer to associate darkness with evil. we are not evil we simply are. and we are required just as light is required.

they are places of learning and bastions for our soldiers against the world. we learn how to fight there, and how to kill, we learn how to live but how to die as well and for our soldiers they are a place of peace, of restful interlude between the neverending battles. such is the reason we defend them so strongly. they are the places the high marshalls merge with the darkness to become the grand high marshalls, those shadows who are darkness themselves and wash up against our enemies like and endless tide.

they welcome all for the knowledge they bring and the light they give for consumption but once the secrets of such places are discovered many chose to stay and those that don't... unless you are shadow... you are changed by the dark.

so come, don't be afraid but don't think you can find our temples... they are illusive to those who search with a purpose, and far more welcoming to those who know not what they are looking for. perhaps though, you are those souls...?

As he sets off, the man in the sunglasses considers the words of the shadowed one. This world was new to him, so in truth he often did not know just what he was searching for. The instinct to belong to something, to strive for some higher purpose was still there, however, and it was much easier for him if he just went along with it.

Resisting something that was so much a part of himself was not something that he wanted to waste his time and willpower on. He was essentially a follower, yes, but he could now chose the master that he wanted to serve. It was more than could be said of him' before.

if you find them i will welcome you but only as a fellow, as i have said you are not my master so i owe you no help in this endeavour but should you find it, i will welcome you as darkness will welcome you. new souls are always welcomed... even ones as troubled as yourself... they are the best for they know darkness yet cling to their own light...

so come, look but not too hard, least you never find them....

He wondered what direction he should choose, but the shadowed one had let it be implied that there was no real way for him to find the place by looking for it. So perhaps he should just pick a direction and walk? Yes, that was probably best.
