Intro - The entire opening scene has been replaced with an alternate deleted one. This is darker, has a different color palette, and overall fits my vision more. - Deleted the entire convo between Broom & HB. Also got rid of the iPhone. The Luchador Fight Cut: - "What up with you man" - "We used to play guitar, man, you'd play all that hippie acoustic crap, and I'd play real music. The Osiris Club England's arrival music holy tonal whiplash, batman. Removed entire music, replaced with a reverbed Beltrami score. Music in the Osiris Club, I've changed it to a more gothic, old-world ambience. (And that Tesco brand Walter Donovan) I cut the giggle and just have him land the "secret door" line. I cut most of HB's giggles throughout the film and about 50% of his laughs. Some of his sounds make him sound oafish. The Hunt Added additional action music from the faceoff with the Hunt. I've removed a few of HB's injuries here because of the amount of stabbing they've done, HB should be in much worse shape than he is. I've cut the head floating down, because it's seamless between HB being in like 3 ft of water to this head falling like 2 ft in and there being no bottom, so it's jarring. Cool shot, but wrecks suspension of disbelief. HB's Faceoff with Giants Got rid of whatever this ball-shaving advertisement music is. A big issue here for me is that HB was just fucking speared through, destroyed, and here he's scratch free and spry as a kitten. Wtf. Cut down Giants fight to brief flashes to reflect Darkness Calls, of which this fight draws influence from. Hellboy going full bloodlust should be violent and epic. Not a scene from some raunchy medieval adult comedy. - "Fucking wet in there" - "Hey pal" - *burrp* - "oh shit yeah forgot" NOW Hellboy faints? He was magically healed for the duration of the fight, barely got a scratch on him, and now he has double vision all of a sudden. Trimmed. Alice's apartment Remove: - "You tell people's fortune?" - "fucking right I am." Just that bit. The Mission The song after "let's move it out". Cut that too. It makes it so teenage. - "For fuck's sake" and the following screams are unpleasant on the head. Cut. "That lady just came out of my fucking mouth" one of the only f-bombs I've left in. "fuck" ~ pig, cut. "You fucking prick!" Daimio's line can be cut down to just "Prick!" Daimio injects some heroin into his leg despite not being shot. I cut that shot, since it brings up questions that won't be answered. Pig Flashback - "I'm a little baby you big fuck" has been cut. - "Fuck off" as the pig-baby runs away. - "Fuckin' let me go" I cut an awkward-air hanging little bit when HB stuffs his head into the fireplace, and cut to his ultimatum directly. He's just in there a few seconds too long, the pacing's off. - "You don't know that about her, not for sure". I get that this line reflects HB's insecurity about his ultimate destiny, but HB's the more silent brooding type in my head, so he would think this, not say this. In no way should the film suggest HB is doubting that the main antagonist in the film is an antagonist. These days it equates to fascist apologists. Let's not have HB be a fascist apologist, it deflates some of the motivation. I cut out a few of the quick shots of Mila getting stitched together. It should be horror, not gore. REMOVED whatever this electric ball-shaver music is again after Mila's sewing project. - "Hellboy's brain is too small a target" like ok I get he's a dropdead dumbass in this film but this edit would discourage some of that, so I've cut the second part of that line, as Daimio's already established as enough of an asshole, and "heart it is" shows his straight to business attitude without portraying him as a petty cock. - "Then we'll make sure she doesn't come back for the sequel" 4th wall break plus we both know there will never be a David Harbor sequel -"Maybe if humans weren't so keen on killing......."That's a false equivalence and you know it." This line misses the mark as it draws racial parallels, and that's way out of place here. I have an issue with hB's entire diatribe about monsters not hiding in the shadows, but I cut it to "they don't have to live in fear" just cut off, because HB is NOT scared of anything. Cutting that also makes HB's response more palpable. I cut "my brothers and sisters" in HB's angry leaving yell. As far as I remember, HB was always the one to differentiate himself from all the other creatures and resented being compared. - "fuck" and the music from the elevator scene, It's trimmed because there's clearly like 9 floors or something, and they keep flashing so it doesn't really make sense that he goes 100 stories down and is knocked out in the process when getting a massive spear through his chest gave him blurry vision after 20 minutes, so I suspect it could be cut to make it feel like he never lost consciousness. If Baba Yaga made him lose consciousness, he's susceptible to anything. Yaga looks too monstrous. Can't fix that. "what do you want it in writing" all the way to the end of the "kiss", has been cut. It's not necessary, and is just a gross-out scene. Like the filmmakers couldn't decide what they want their audience to feel at the moment. "we never specified a timeframe" Cut this because wtf does Baba Yaga know about timeframes. Very western wording that breaks suspense of disbelief. "I'm not taking orders from you old man." HB's quarrel with Broom is moot. Cut. I don't mind the Alice Cooper song, it somehow actually works for HB, especially the way it turns diegetic in the chopper. "I'm fucking knackered" I'd leave in as a second fbomb. - "Where the fuck else am I gonna go?" unnecessary I'm not keen on Mila's eye hanging in the wind like that tbh. Trimmed. Cut the pig's line "Ahh eyeball, you bastard!" "Where else am I gonna go" would have to go because it follows through on the time Alice said it a few minutes before. Trimmed. - "Not so fucking funny now" pig line I'd carefully cut the part where Mila says, off-screen, "we belong blah blah blah..." and the "fucking nuts" has been trimmed. It adds nothing to characterization of either character or to the story. "Even if I have to take away everything and everyone you ever loved." Yeah no shit sherlock. I trimmed this line. She'd be more menacing just opting out after spiking Alice's neck. Bethany Hughes....wish we had a shot of her riding the goat. Establishing shots on the city, I held it for a bit longer to affect the groundedness of the scene. - "This shit has gone way beyond the fan" just cut early to "out there...." "Now please tell me where the fuck they are" Removed the curse word, maybe cut early to the next shot and have his "they are!" over the door opening. "Heyyyyy I'monoyoursayyyyyyyyed" I don't care for the way Harbor draws this out. The whole joke doesn't work, because you're setting up all this suspense, then HB getting shot at interrupts the flow of the scene. Now the scene starts with them running up the stairs. -"How did he get so fucking big?" -fuuck in "proper welcome" - whatever that pig's f bomb was -Cut hB's piggy squealin' line audio. -"fucking bastard" ~pig "baboon's ass" line... cut like almost all of it to "Just lay there while I finish you off" then cut HBs idiotic line cut the next f bomb cut the bbq line cut what am i supposed to do with that (i think in canon HB has seen a weapon before) cut improvise. cut most the pig's lines especially profanities I cut the shot of the pig exploding so he pops as he complains to The Blood Queen. There's some gasps after HB falls through the ground where he sounds like he's getting reamed. silent Hellboy is better Hellboy Ok, so hb is seeing the sword and his motivation is that he can use it to kill her. She wants to be killed by him? Ok HB opts out. Broom fingered to death. FFS. Cannot cut this. Cut HB's Vader scream audio. Cut entire Daimio/Alice to be: "Jesus Christ mate, you're a amess" skip over the now we know blahblah, cut to daimio settling down. Anything Alice says offscreen cut including "he needs out help". Let alice walk away quietly. All the gratituous violence is unnecessary, Cut down bits and pieces of it (like the second or third guy ripped in half, i forget, because they clearly HAD to have several shots of people being ripped apart in sequence, you know, for the narrative) Broomworm, oh Broomworm. Wherefore art thou Broomworm? "This isn't you, you're better than this!" cutting that part of the line after "stop" helps add a bit of a void that helps warrant hellboy turning around. Cut "make you into something you're not" Cut "stop being a whiny little shit" Kept only lines: "she wants to use you" "show her" (then moved up Mila's "go forth and embrace your destiny" so it goes slightly on top over broom) "you're a man" pause "and a good one" "don't let a prophecy tell you who you are" "you decide for yourself" Cut most of Hellboy's audio. I now have the broomworm say he never regretted his decision. I cut out as much broomworm as possible. Both the Abe Sapien and Lobster Johnson scenes at the end are gone. The post-credits Baba Yaga/Rasputin exchange has been removed.
