a topic about site colours. I'm happy for people to talk about this, how do you feel about the site colours, the existing themes, the site logo etc.  I'll provide the psd files of the logo so you can have a look. I'm open to design suggestions. I may not go with the suggestion but I like to consider alternatives.

current ones -

here's a link to a google drive folder containing the PSDs

Drats! I keep hitting Image url attach and I'm getting nothing!

Wow, sorry about that! I had no idea that button could have been broken by adding the upload button. If you need to do it now, you can put img tags in manually, I'll take a look when I get back to the other room.

Ha! I've never done that before lol - here we go! User image

I think your two background modes should be light, or disco - - they're bright, colourful and positive, it makes one feel GOOD to look at it; And you were bang on, coral looks so good in a logo!

A white/Disco site with coral film logo welcoming people? On a landing page LITTERED with media in carousels, enticing people to browse, and click, and explore long before pages of forum discussions are on their page.

Anything but dark with red and gray - coral and teal would be so nice - - and other fan edit sites, and loads of dark web forums already use red and darkness and it risks being dungeonesque - - I really think bright will be so nice for everyone involved and visiting!

But you have Vito rights and decisions! - - I'd say two modes/background colours is a decision, anything more is indecision masked as choice.

And I like the logo nodding to film/editing - but again - these are *sloppy musings* - you can dismiss them all!

You put some work into that and I really appreciate it! That is a really interesting take on it.
I like the colours and i like the clean shapes. The things that come to  mind are, the site isn't purely about movies, it will also be about tv shows, comics, games, etc.  So having a film reel may be a bit misleading.  t is something to work with though and the fundamental premise and feeling are good.

( bbcode buttons are fixed too, sorry about that)

But now we're making decisions, because the existing logo says *very little* - but if your F is a film strip (cover movies/tv), and your "W" is a game console controller - ehh? lol Then we're cooking! - - ooh! In TEAL!

Just blue-skying! My only vote is for: Brightness, colour, optimism, and a landing page that looks like love and media!

I'm otherwise easy peasy! And I'll be happy with whatever you land on!

I once got scorned on a web design forum for having a logo that was too picture-like.   I know I shouldn't always listen to those kinds of people, they spend so long in their field, they can't look past it... and it might be nice to have fun and promote a positive vibe.
I know my current logo is not the best though, and could do with a new approach.  coral and teal... might end up with too many conflicting colours. i think a good approach is to have one saturated colour and one base tone. so the W could be grey, but I don't think it would be good to use teal.  That's just my gut feeling. you can try to prove me wrong if you want ^^

Sure! I'd say trust your gut more than nay-sayers! If we trust the nay-sayers, we meander in indecision and mediocrity ----> (that's him)

Well.....

I have been thinking... Emotional feeling... Inspirational...

We draw from the depths, and reach for the stars.

What is that thing that truly inspired you. That found it's way into your heart and lit a fire, that gave you the power to fly!

I have a thought of something like... A heart, with fire within, and with wings. Just as a thought, not necessarily as a logo. But maybe a good starting point.

Brilliant! Now, *there's* the rapscallion who mused upon footsteps through leaves, nature retiring, and birds vacating eaves! :)

Just had this thought during creative writing class

If the bottom part is teal and the top part is coral, and the background is like the sky

This was an interesting idea, but I'm not sure it does the job.

Don't stop dreaming up stuff! And sleep on what sticks and pleases you.I think the film "F" was the nearest thing to being a logo that conveys what's to be found on the site so far; perhaps jump from there - any way you want, even if it's away from the coral F that I made.Even if in your recent drawing,  "FAN" was hole-punched in a teal film strip, you know? That's a good direction. And while people can *talk* about fan fiction and video games on the site, I don't think those themes earn a place in the logo, but IF they did: I bet the "X" in fan WorX could be the D-Pad of a joystick - - or two intersecting film splices, etcLots of room to play! Any time you're bogged down or stressed about the rating/voting system on the site; any time the home page carousels seem a million miles away, revisit this and see what makes you *happy*! It should make you happy - - it should be positive and unique in colour (and I've loved how we've played thus far) - - and it should be indicative on the major themes of the site!User image - - IMDB movie stub is subtle and brilliant!User image - Baskin Robbins "31" falvoursIt's GREAT to have a logo that helps answer questions as soon as people click.I would vote for: Definite film strip imagery - - and if you wanted the added aspect of "gaming" I think the "W" could be a console joystick, or the X could be a slanted D-pad (my fave)And coral and teal look good together! I'd splash that anywhere!Keep dreaming - keep cooking up things that please you - - and reserve THIS matter for when you're like "Well #### making this site for the rest of the week" but you still want to click and fuss over something lol - Do not stress one minute!!

Thanks for the feedback,

UK law is a big concern. To have a website that is generally accessible, it has to meet certain communication standards. the policy is pg13. I'm uploading a document that has a communication guide, It'll be accessible from the rules page.  I'll also add an automatic language filter so people won't need to stress about slip ups.

I would also point out, that editing the worst swearwords to your post behind spoilers, in a passive aggressive retort, instructing me how to use code to correct users who cannot follow simple rules is not acceptable.
I shouldn't have to point that out of course, and as is my responsibility both to the law and to any youngsters viewing the site, I must remove your access to post materials. If you are wiling and able to conduct yourself with an amount of decency and politeness, feel free to contact me via other means.

The concept of 'from the depths to the far reaches' is a concept I want to stick with. Looking at a directory of logos though, I've picked up on how different types of logos communicate. For what this site represents a bird is excellent symbolism. So I'm thinking some kind of glyph of a bird, rising like a phoenix. But perhaps out of water, rather than flame. I considered the colours and I realised that to signify creative or artistic endeavours, a colour gradient is often suitable so I found this nice gradient. User image
