Two Trilogies Same Sin - How Star Wars 7-9 & JW 1-3 both did the same thing?

I liked Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom... its darker, more ambitious and a grand epic feel... and I like The Last Jedi... creative ideas, action, great visuals.. epic feel lots of ideas.

But you know what?

Both were follow ups to billion dollar franchise reboot hits- and the two films JW FK & TLJ both earned money... but were controversially received and then oh wait-

the studios (Universal) for JW Dominion and Lucasfilm for TROS then forced a conclusion that threw away the previous films tone and plots, hired back the directors of the first installments, then re-cut the films to try and fit runtime and studio notes- and both ended up failing...

I find this pretty amazing even more that Collin was gonna make Ep. 9 more original- but then NOPE

How do two studios make the same mistake in 6-8 years...? what?

How does anyone else feel on this? I'd like to discuss- this coincidence baffles me and dissapoints me- that the artistic ambitious sequels were both given the laziest corporate note trilogy endings ever.

Star Wars and Jurassic Park, some extremely lauded landmark films. Turned into franchises because of their standing. Then of course, franchises do franchise things.  I think it's a natural course of action for these days.  It's very similar to the concept of platform decay, or crapification, where something starts out good, with a lot of effort and resources put in, then subject to efficiency drives, cutting corners, removing features, etc.

I think we have all seen this video by now (Don't watch if you don't want to hear that word repeated.)
