Welcome to FanWorx!

Thank you for visiting. This site was founded 3/10/2023 and is in slow and steady development.
The plan is to create a healthy and respectful community to celebrate pop culture. Many people like to celebrate their favourite things through creating various derivative works like Fan-Edits, Fan-Art, Fan-Fiction, Models, Posters, Cos-Play, Fan Games, and much more!
Not only will this be a community but also a database where people can find information on various fan productions and leave ratings.
Primarily though, this will be a community, and it is very important to have accountability at all possible levels. Ideally, users will be accountable, as will mods and admins. I want everyone to feel as if there is a fair and just environment. Trust and respect is important. Sites like reddit, twitter, steam, etc. seem to have forgotten this.
Thanks again for reading and I look forward to whatever people decide to share.

How this will develop.

The site is being built in asp and I will create the database from the ground up. This will make it 100% custom and so can have whatever organisational method that works best.

Ideally the entire site would be completely integrated so that the database of properties and individual fanworx are not separated from discussion and community interaction. This is rather nebulous to think about so it's not clear how exactly this would work. In terms of discussion, I am thinking I like how Reddit operates to some extent but I really hate the Karma system. People should be able to reward others, but not punish. Upvoting could be a possibility but no downvoting will be considered.

I want to try and find a balance between a traditional forum structure and the reddit type structure. how to present posts? threaded or in a hierarchy? that's a tough one... but one idea I had was to have the ability to mark posts and any posts that quote them as 'off topic' and filter them out? this could be a way of having a loosely linked hierarchy, but displayed in a threaded format. or maybe users can press a button to have it displayed threaded or hierarchical?

As for the other elements, I want to have individual hubs for franchises and properties. for example, there will be a hub for the fallout franchise and a sub-hub for the game fallout 4. This could be done with keywords, or it could be more hard coded. Fanworx could then be attached to the hubs as individual entities.

Testing below :-
These elements are currently drawn from a data file. This layout is being generated by code.
