I think you bring up the words CGI and AI a bit too casually. These things are not easy and they are not a magic bullet. I think the first thing you should do is investigate these technologies and use them and see the process that would be required to change footage or create new footage. If you want to say " I can't do this stuff so I'll just let someone else do it" that would be somewhat disrespectful as there is no recognition of what is involved in that and wouldn't be fully respectful of another person's labour. what can you do with your skills. that is how an editor should be thinking first and foremost. you need to know if something is feasible before you start making plans.

I'm planning to make a Supergirl edit, but I really want to change the ending, one so the turn of Ruthye from killing Krem does not feel so rushed, it felt so TV like, like OH let me have flashbacks, hear wise words and be like okay. But also I want to change it so Krem is not killed by Kara Could VFX be used and A.I to create a new ending, ,my idea is to use a shot of him being dragged, and then maybe just have him locked in a prison using CG / AI combo? Then add a post-credit where we go 80 years later and he's seeing the sunrise and is visited and reminded. Something akin to the comics ending. I know that might be hard considering well, he's a uhhh(spoiler hidden). in the film but I think the ending could've been better. If I kept Lobo which now reading what Jess said about there edit ideas, yea he is completely useless, just there for comic fans to go "yeah!" but that meant nothing cause it still bombed hard. I've got more trims and re-arranges, entire opening reconstruction. But how could the ending be fixed? I'm against AI over an actual job but it's an edit, so use your resources I say. It'd just be for 1 scene. I do have a friend who does CG and such so maybe they could help but I need to figure out if this could believably be done first/

I decided to try with search functionality today. I have done a search index for forum posts and replies and topic titles. this is currently working fine, or so it seems. This could be expended to other aspects of the site . The current ranking of the search is based on the frequency of the search term in each post and title. I think I need to include options for ranking.

The 2020s decade is half over, can you believe it? But thinking back, there are SOO many films I absolutely love / loved, and think are pure bliss, whether originals, adaptations or originals! A Great Awakening 3. Spiderman Across The Spiderverse 2. Spiderman No Way Home 1. Wonka Why these films? Well below are brief analytical reviews that just briefly list why I love them. Thunderbolts & Jesus Revolution were so emotional for me, obviously for very different reasons, Thunderbolts* finale with the Void was one of the most emotional Marvel finales I've seen, not cause of cameos, which there were none, but because it was real. The void is the epitemy of "shame and guilt" and when he started punching him, and got hugged by his team, I cried in the theater, Because I felt like I was Bob, and that enemy he fought was my shame and guilt. Which leads into the latter, Jesus Revolution which just, idk. Spiritually moved me. Same for A Great Awakening - highly recommend Most of the others were just great fun, but some emotional highlights or pure cinematic and lovely bliss... well Black Panther Wakanda Forever - may not be perfect - it feels like it had notes... but I still felt Shuri's journey and that was the strongest part of the plot, and man Phase 4 with it's characters VS enemies fights, I mean yes Marvel, fights, but this is different, these characters lose everything and have to make a choice in combat. That said Spiderman No Way Home - my gosh... what a bliss of cinematic excellence, sure Act 1 kinda is rough... why would a sorcerer just let a kid do a brain-wash spell? BUT- the pay-off Act 2 and 3, the consequences, the handling, my gosh, it's absolutely amazing and that final fight actually is intense. Other major highlights are ofc Spiderverse & Puss In Boots The Last Wish and Project Hail Mary which might just be one of the best sci-fi films ever made. No questions asked?? Others are just spectacle, Predator Badlands, Avatar F&A, visually stunning, sick action, same with Fall Guy which my gosh is so funny. So many other great gems, I'd say honorable mentions? Tron Ares, Hungergames: Ballad Of Songbirds, & Aquaman 2, loved all 3.text

I think what films we like, tells us about where we want to be. I certainly love the nostalgia of 80s movies because it's my childhood, but where I really want to be is here and now, so I love current movies. I saw Mickey 17 in the cinema and Bugonia and Ponniyin Selvan, and I just like some of the notable films that will be remembered in the future and celebrated as the fine craft and art. Films represent progress and hope and ingenuity. Did you know that in the 80s, you have to phone up a special phone number to get accurate time and set your clocks manually? Well that, or we could listen out for the church bells.

I love movies, I've been trying to watch a lot more of them and a lot that I've not seen, but here's a fun question: What is your favorite decade of movies and why? Mine is the 1980s, I just love the feel of the films back then, so much wonder, imagination, fantasy, spectacle, science-fiction. Of many different kinds: I mean you had so many amazing films. You had titles like Superman 2-4, Indiana Jones (trilogy), Somewhere In Time, Fox & The Hound, Black Hole, Star Trek 2-5, E.T, Gandhi, Footloose, so many, so many, Karate Kid. I just loved the 80s and the feel of fun and whimsical and at times the grand storytelling of films like Karate Kid, films that truly feel like they could never be made today, not out of content but out of just, "is it possible"? to make films of that quality!?

Lassie, a star in there own way, not a human, nor with an Oscar. But one who touched the hearts of many back in the old days of the 40s & 50s. I'm working on rewatching / first-time watching all the lassie films. With my goal to rank them worst to best. There's a lot of them, I think 9 or so. all of varying directors, and qualities. Lassie Come Home (1943) Is a very good film, in-fact the first theatrical Lassie film and definitely of a different era, with it's simplistic plot, and long journey with only minimal conflict, I did really like it on rewatch and I definitely want to watch more Lassie because of it. Cute, nice performances, a story about the loyalty of a dog at it's heart and a gorgeous pup to show for it. 7/10 No real complaints, maybe could've been shorter but I mean it was shorter then I remembered! I think what I love is that it's a simple story, it's just about a dog going above and beyond to get home to it's owner. which sure, now days has been done a billion times! But I love the gentleness of this version, no major mountain lion fight or cruel bussiness-man wanting to kill the dog. It has some action and more thrilling moments, but I mean frankly they take like only 8 mins or so of the runtime. It's simple, sweet and fun.

Despite the "idea" that bad box office is usually equal to bad property, aka: The film flopped cause it was garbage, there's genuinely some movies I love that are not successful financially and vice-versa. What are some for you? Some that come to my mind. 1: Art Of Racing In The Rain (2019) I don't see how it's bad enough to earn the fate it had, it barely made money, but I think while it is depressing, I found it's ideas sort of original: Danny for example treating life as a race on the track, where you have to adapt to the weather (or life's happenings), Kevin Costner voicing the lead dog Enzo (narrating) IDK why you'd do that, but hey A Dog's Purpose did and that made money. ;-; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dp2ufFO4QGg 2: Tron Legacy (2010): It's not the Top Gun Maverick of Tron, in terms of quality on a script level maybe, but visually and sound wise, one of the best films ever made. Profanity filter and rules were quite strict. The site is supposed to be a mostly adult environment. I surely need to keep in line with UK laws, but I already do that with the sign up process and I have moderation and all that so I figured I could probably relax things a bit. I took the approach that certain language is generally tolerated in books, television, movies, etc. various language is also fairly common in public discourse. I've pared back the profanity filter to the three most egregious words beginning with F—, C— and SH—. those ones will auto-filter. I tried to make it so it appears like on most other sites and to be honest should be fairly transparent. We see these censored versions all the time and our brain fills in the gaps anyway. I also edited the rules page to reflect this, changed the language a bit so it's friendlier. At least I think it is. The PG-13 pdf is removed, it was a bit too overbearing. We are adults, we know how to behave in public places like shops and parks and Libraries and Movie Theatres, etc.

I've been thinking about one thing; How could I make Jean more conflicted, easy answer, re-add the deleted trailer dialogue of her telling magneto "when I lose control bad things happen, to people I love, but it feels good"... that last bit is key... she feels conflicted, we get that in X-Men TLS I think but not in Dark Phoenix... I want that, I want a hero we struggle to root for, we go from scared girl to "manipulated by a space entity" but we need that ramp to the manipulation..., I also have one question: I don't know VFX but I do know Captain Marvel has a space flight sequence and I almost wonder if... could you realistically, construct a 3d model of Jean flying and rotoscope it onto Captain Marvel (change colors and such) but make it look convincingly like this is Jean defeating the space intelligence? Obviously you still have to come back down to earth... but you could have her go from the train, fly up fight the space entities with epic music then come down and fight the last remains for the final climax with Vuk... maybe a new VFX shot there so its not just spinning purple particles... but hmm... But wait the original ending had her succumbing to the Phoenix and aliens and sending out a blast... so wait... that would require VFX but that could also reuse footage of her in Appoclypse... hmmmmm I'm getting ideas now... I'm gonna edit a crude concept of this and see how it flows (obviously no music fixes or anything... but I've got an idea.) I might have an idea... (obviously would still need VFX to make it convincingly work and music and some cast shots... but... Hmmm

The edit has changed a lot since last posting here Dandy98 has been resourceful in realizing I could cut the entire first 30 mins pretty much and still end up with a good opening. So I let him do that, and then messed with it and we constructed an opening where Ethan wakes up from a nightmare (after having been knocked out by Gabriel's members.) We have the scene of Gabriel and Ethan & Grace, and then cut straight from that to the credits once Ethan & Grace fight it out, to Ethan running to save Luthor... where's Grace? We'll just say she went with the rest of the team. I've moved aorund a lot of scenes, the Ethan team at the House comes earlier, and so does the team briefing, with assistance by Spence & Wraith. The latest edit has been the entire firehouse fight, where they fight in the house and getting that to transition without the dumb aircraft fight (the fight's great, storywise unneeded. So I chopped it. - Last night I fooled around with the audio, and got it so the House Fight ends... more smoothly, not perfect. But it's better, and I re-arranged shots of the President's convo with her team so we start on the countdown, then go to the conversation. I've realized through talking with triad how self-centered/focused I can be when pitching edit collabs, or in general: So I'm going to say this; I'm gonna shut up, and leave this open. If someone wants to help - come to me, you tell me what you want to do, and then we can try and meet in the middle, an actual collab of ideas. Thank you.

My first plans are this: 1. How can we make the ending more grand? Can we change the villains to make them skrulls / aliens that actually have a language and logic. 2. Make Jean more conflicted: Theatrical cut "I hurt someone..." I feel bad, 30 mins later, I'm now corrupted by the villain being told "they fear you" Original Cut: had "It feels good" her saying to Magneto, I did bad things, bad things happen, but it feels good, where's that? Where's that conflicted person? That girl that has this phoenix force and struggles morally with what to do: Also opening credits were completely different, where'd those go?? Cut for time, but can we put them back? Would require a lot of work. Even if we had to make something shorter fine, but c'mon the final "X-Men" titled film has "Dark Phoenix" on a black screen... seriously?

It seems to me you're asking for a stooge. I'm not going to pledge my time and effort to be a busy body for someone. If you want to be a producer you need to have a budget and employ people. I think you really need to rethink your approach to people. you don't ask for collaboration, you ask for free labour.

What I am asking for is a visual effect collaborator, first we'll come up with how to improve the story, and figure out what shots we need: I want to collaborate if that's the way to do it, I understand I came off as to much "I want" but I didn't mean to sound overtly disrespectful. I want a partner, I want someone whose willing to do VFX and work with me.

I don't know how to do Visual Effects, what I can provide is a vision: I'd like to work with someone who can help with ideas. If they are willing then provide VFX work, I want to make the ending / film more grand and epic, but don't have the skills to do so at all. I don't have much money to pay for a VFX partner either... but I'm curious how much someone would be asking for to collaborate.

Well this is very vague. Are you asking for somebody to do most of the work for you? If you want to collaborate with somebody, you need to bring something to the table. Lay out something concrete and then ask for interested parties.
