Anne Hathaway was always so drop dead gorgeous, so I watched devil wears prada but it's not my kind of movie, so maybe not. I watched the beach landing in saving private Ryan and it was very distressing. I don't want to watch that kind of thing so these are not for me.

So we got two big trailers!! Devil Wears Prada 2 and Micheal, I think both look intriguing I'd love to hear your thoughts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9HXmMnUEdE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbtgEE6rkxw For Micheal as a person wanting to become an editor I love the editing of the trailer, the music also sounds great to me. (But thats just my opinion) I'd love to hear yours!

image system updated
the image system has been updated from the ground up, so data s easier to handle and so you can check in your uploaded images if it fails to attach to your post for some reason. it also allows me to do further updates to make sure an image is attached to a post, even if it fails to be inserted by bbcode. it's also a bit of a testing ground for sorting and filtering. the image gallery link is in the header now. or if you don't want to use your scroll wheel you can click - https://fanworx.org/Image/Gallery

Oh yes, it's definitely because of all the layering. I think just the color regrade dramatically increased the render time. The 4K export used to take about four days, now it takes twelve. I will keep the 4K export GPU rendered, but I might consider CPU rendering the 1080p export, since it should be a lot faster. I'm not sure if there really is a very notable difference though. I think the 4K export I did looks quite good. I consider the 1080p version to be the main version anyway, since that's the one most people will watch. 4K is niche, but some people do request it. Not all of the edit is truly in 4K either, but most of it is. The good thing about editing with 4K source material is that I can zoom in without losing sharpness in the 1080p version.

Yes! It is indeed about rendering with the GPU, which I think I'll do from now on, just simply because of how much faster it is. Do you usually export with the CPU? Thank you! It really has been SUCH ... I would never export with gpu, due to the errors it produces. Cpu rendering is required for visual quality and clarity. I understand why you ask this though, the render time you were given was insane. I presume your cpu is not terrible though, so that's down to, either Premier has issues, or it was to do with the layering of effects, etc. I did one send my render time sky high, that was when I tried to add film grain to a film that didn't need it.

oh is this rendering with the GPU? I wish I had cottoned on to that sooner because I knew about the issues with gpu encoding. my apologies for not paying attention, I could have saved you some trouble. well done for getting there anyhow! it's been rather a large headache for you hasn't it.

Update. I finally managed a complete hardware export. I managed this by pre-rendering all After Effects sequences, un-nesting nearly all sequences, and updating to Premiere Pro 2025. I can now do the full 4K export in about 5 hours, which is of course an incredible improvement over 300+ hours. Switching to hardware export does introduce problems, however. Many of the transitions between slowed down shots have become glitched and some of the effects render in a different manner. More interestingly, perhaps, I also found out that hardware export utilizes a simplified codec. Software encoders use more sophisticated analysis, allowing for better processing of details. Hardware encoders tend to be more aggressive with de-noising and smoothing to hit their speed targets. In professional production software exports are always used. Nevertheless, I think the export looks good. For all the doubts I've had, I am actually quite satisfied with my color regrade. I watched through the edit yesterday for quality control. I have to fix 35 glitches or so. I am also considering cutting out two scenes in act 1 that don't particularly add much, and perhaps just make the edit confusing and slow the pacing. It is going to take a while to make these final adjustments, but the end is in sight. It is a big relief that at least the export itself will be swift. Once it is finished I will also have to put together some sort of a trailer before I can release it, but I don't expect that to take too long. Furthermore, since I pre-rendered most of my special effects now, I intend to make them publicly available for others to use in their edits.

there are options for listing type on the submission form, animation is part of that.  the page for displaying fanedits will need to have filters and/or categories though and that wil naturally be one... Fan Worxs Organizations For Edits
I know we don't have too many edits yet, but when we do there's some particular things I'd love to see!! 1. An animation category, I've just mentioned this on fe.org and I'd love it here too, animated movies may not be the most popular to fan-edit but that does not mean they are not important. Also can we have edits sorted by editor? and genres / IPS so all Matrix edits or Star Wars fall under that franchise section? I could think of more.

Any Previewers?
I realise the way I phrased that may seem callous. I apologise. That was not my intention. I just don't have a good attention span due to my adhd so my attention is a tricky thing to navigate. and sorry to double post.

react system for posts
I have added the ability to react to posts. You can add a thumbs up or a love or a laugh or a celebrate or a idea reaction. I think this is like a good 'likes' system, or thumbs up or rating or however you want to call it. in my mission statement I said I want an upvote type thing like reddit but without the negativity. So I think this is good. at some point it may be possible to order things by how many reacts they have, but i'm not entirely sure about that right now. I'm also more keenly aware that I need to be looking at adding an in site notification, not just the email notifications. My next task is images though. The current images system doesn't have good management options and you can't easily access the images you may have uploaded. also, I have no resized versions and that makes some page loads really cumbersome and inefficient. I aim to improve that.

Any Previewers?
Which edits would you be interested in? I'm not interested in any edits, but since you said this was for previews, then that's usually a case of an edit that is not finalised and needs feedback. So if you wanted feedback on a 3 minute section, I can help with that. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression.

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 2 - The Prism Edit - Discussion
it's not really possible to give timestamps for fast edits in a youtube video. but my feedback applies to all of the flashbacks, and my feedback was written as I was watching so they are in the right order for the sections you have shown.

can you specifically highlight timestamps? Your saying less shots for flashbacks? I didn't address why Grace isn't with him, idk how to. That's a good point. The crossfades were done by Spence, the whole plane sequence I borrowed from his edit (with his explicit permission ofc) `

have you added foley? one thing I couldn't abide in this movie was the bizarre sound choices. the flashbacks don't work for me, they are too fast and make me feel dazzled. did you add the iris transition or was that them? The iris transition doesn't work for me. if you're cutting for less time, I would probably have less shots, rather than the almost strobe like shot changes. when you open with ethan running in London, do you address why Grace is no longer with him? Or is this implied elsewhere? did you add the cross fades during the plane travelling ethan captured bit? those cross fades work well. I have to stop watching here, my attention has gone elsewhere. Good work so far though, keep it up!
