Just dropping a quick update in regards to the development of the second half of this project (Ghost Rider Spirit Of Vengeance) though it's development has been slow it has been going well and I have found a way to link both films together visually and narratively hence why I am posting this update in this thread rather than creating an entirely new thread for a separate Fanworx. Once I have finished fine tuning the second half I'll be renaming this Fanedit to ''Ghost Rider: The Blaze Cut'' I was hoping to have the second half completed by late October just in time for Samhain/Halloween (Yes I partake in both traditions) though I don't see said completion happening this month, but I do foresee this edit remaining in the Fanmix & Short categorisation. Unless someone is able to make a convincing case as to why I should put certain scenes from both films back into there original narrative positions or why I should place certain scenes from both films back into the narrative in a rearranged order. As to why my initial cut of this edit was so short, well to put it simply how much I cut out and keep from the source material tends to reflect how I feel about said source material. If I don't like the source material that much lots gets cut out and I only keep what I deem ''Good'' or ''Essential'' otherwise if I do like the source material I retain the vast majority of the footage and only make small cuts. If I truly ''Loved'' a Movie/TV Show unapologetically than I would either not do a Fanedit of it as I would deem it flawless or I would do an ''Extended Edition'' of said Movie or TV Show where I would add back in the deleted scenes and colour grade said deleted scenes to match the final footage.

1978's The Lord Of The Rings directed by the infamous Ralph Bakshi is terrible. (image) First of all I need to establish I have no care for this man's work, and rather I don't personally get the "praise"? But all I will say is the argument that he was "progressive" and "kept animation from dying" makes no logical sense- if he was so profound, and really moved animation from just being "for kids" why are most adult animations stuck on TV? Furthermore animation can be mature yes, but he didn't seek to create "older stories" with value, instead most times going for obscene with the occasional message sprinkled in. I will say however that if he had truly made a great work, while I'd still complain about his other projects I could praise it... but that's not the case here. But that's not my purpose here really, I'm talking about the '78 LOTR and the film itself... is pretty bad. I admit it's what I wanted "a mature animated film, thats mature to tell an older focused epic" but without being obscene and it is that. But... it's also one of the worst most confusing animated films I've ever seen with sequences that are so confusing and baffling... to quote my original review "The film has moments where you actually think it's competent and interesting, then it goes off the rails, and down the toilet, and then somehow even into a further toilet... it's bad. For one the animation is just ugly, I'm not talking about just the hand-drawn it's the 80s, it's fine. But the actual like character designs, the movements, oh my gosh the rotoscoping is so bad. You flat out can tell it was rotoscoped to death, the characters have the normal hand-drawn then randomly have smooth running or riding animations, then jagged random whatever- and the colors are just OFF. " Like what even is this- that's meant to be a scary Balrog but like... what (video) and Ik he had a tight budget- but like I must ask politely... where in the books does it say... "Balrogs have wings?" This is not terrifying, this is corny as all-get-out. (image) It's also got many other scenes that your just like "what am I looking at?" Like... there's a scene where Frodo's controlled by the Wraiths and it's just so sketchy in terms of quality level... great film to laugh at... which is not the intention... It's also not titled Part One which is just false marketing because... spoilers... it's only 1.5 books, it's all of Fellowship (with edits) and half of the two towers with a really weird cliff-hanger and the final battle becoming completely nonsensical with slow motion blood splatters and it's just like what??? How... did United Artist see this and think y'know... maybe we should give him the budget to redo the end? It's so bad. What can I praise it for? Well, it is ambitious, and it is darker, and generally the voice-cast most times works, I'll admit no TLOTR trilogy cast but they work well enough. The opening also has some level of charm and "aura" or at least filmmaker flair, the decision to do live action for the opening narration footage is definetly questionable but show's a level of boldness. and he did after all do what he set out, and that was make a theatrical Lord Of The Rings. Make a 2 hour adaptation of at least 1.5 of the 3 book material. He did acomplish his ambitious goal, and he did make a film that narratively works for the most part and has good pacing. I don't think it's good but I mean it's better then say Wizards (1977) which has been called flat-out boring. and on another plus, his choices heavily were said to have inspired Peter Jackson when making his trilogy, I'm not sure what scenes or in what ways, but hey, that's a compliment! I do wish it was better, and that it could've been a return to making something actually groundbreaking but it was not, at least for me.

The first film The Hobbit (1977) by Rankin/Bass productions is actually IMO quite solid. Now to be clear, I've never read the book (not a huge reader) but from what I know it was just a charming little fun adaptation of the classic J.R.R Tolkien text, that manages to be engaging for it's runtime that albeit can also come off as cheesy/or low budget. I have to say, I'm generally irked when they make a sequel to something that had a very well defined and finished story. Coco 2? well I guess some people will enjoy the characters and want to see more of them. It just bothers me personally.

A film I was actually really looking forward to, then I saw the reviews and opinions and was like... hm. But in retrospect, I did really enjoy it, I admit it does have problems especially pacing and certain scenes that feel out of place/unneeded but I did like what it was trying to do. Ultimately I think it's trying to be an original dinosaur film thats more brutal then the modern Jurassic films, whether it does that or not is complicated. But I did like it. It's got a lot of major issues though, the first act is way too slow with it dragging and feeling clunky, I can't tell if its reshoots or what, but it just didn't come together. I felt bored honestly, the middle is where it got good with the dinosaur action but that's of course the point... but the later part of the film and ending are bad. (spoiler hidden)I want the darker cut, I want the cut that got bad test scores, cause this cut isn't even making money. :(

I do know its funding jobs, and frankly I have sympathy for the people forced to work on this project. At least its keeping the lights on but as a piece of artwork, yea no, not excited.

Seeing these people called out and dealt with? But obviously there's legal issues with questions of, should Chris Hansen even be doing this? What gives him legal right? I'd rather get a bad movie saved or a good movie saved, then never see it due to just "financial insecurities". HOWEVER- I do think WB was probably right in "claiming it wouldn't be profitable" because Looney Toons frankly just aren't these days. Unfortunately - but I still am planning to see this if for nothing else to have fun!

Alright so I saw Spiderman BND this past Saturday August 1st 2026, and I really liked it... but certain things prevented me from loving it, I still prefer NWH, and while I tried to attempt to create a discussion, it was gonna be too many filtered text and such so let's move here: THAT Said... my two biggest problems are 1. I don't think Jean needed to be in this at all and the X-Men tie in just feels like Marvel trying to build up Phase 7 2. Jean is kind of hard to like: What I mean by that, is Sadie Sink's Jean Grey one, I did not emotionally connect with performance wise, and furthermore, her actions are really hard to get past. I am all for forgiving IRL people make bad choices, and mistakes, but there are just some things that make it hard to wanna root for them even when they change in media. 1. Jean basically tricking a lonely young adult into thinking his crush remembered him and going as far as to let him kiss her just to reveal "I'm mind control" - one that morally has complexities - I wouldn't call it sexual assault but then again I have to be honest I fell for it and didn't see the twist coming- on that level it was an amazing twist that actually got me. BUT... I still struggle to forgive Jean for exploiting a man's emotions for what purpose? "to punish"? Furthermore even when later Peter gives her over to Damage Control... Jean's mad at him which I get but like- he didn't know better, and the second he did he was sorry... THAT SAID I also felt the way they made the connection with Aunt May to be very clunky? I loved the dialogue, and thought that was emotional but how did that even work? Peter just let her hear the words said to him? Is that even genuine help? That'd be like a therapist giving you there last patients same help plan despite you being a different person then the past client. Also Jean's kinda no offense, I didn't like the performance and I don't know if I'd blame the actress, more the direction: My go to Phoenix is Sophie Turner which sure "was she a bad actress"? DP is a bad movie- but what I remember most, amongst the studio reshoots and junk is the performance: Sophie could very easily be the innocent scared girl that has this unmatchable power... and yet go into a vicious rage of emotions whenever the script needed- this Jean could to (Sadie Sinks) but I don't feel the vocal warmth of past performances. I think BND gets a lot right, I mean I love the direction for the most part, the cinematography, the music, the action, oh just gold!!! Though I admit once again, I think Scorpion would've been a more fulfilling villain because of his actual physiciality in combat (AKA Jean's mainly using mind magic and psychic shields) but also it'd close the Homecoming post credit scene. Where it felt like this film basically was like Eh. Forget the past trilogy set ups.
